A Voice from the Eastern Door

The Akwesasne Attack Lacrosse team qualified for the Dick's Tournament in October when the team travelled to Connecticut. From then on, the team and players fundraised to help offset the Travel expense cost. The Akwesasne Attack Team would like to thank Akwesasne and surrounding communities for supporting their 42' Smart TV Raffle, Bottle Drive and Luncheons that were organized to help the players get to Florida.
At this time we would like to thank the American Legion Post 1479 for allowing the team to host a dance there. We would also like to thank the Crosswinds Band (John Francis, Todd Mullin & Band Members) for playing great music throughout the night. We would like to thank all the community members that came out that night and purchased Basket raffle, 42' Smart TV tickets, and 50/50.
In addition to the dance, the team hosted an Ugly Christmas Sweater Trivia in December at Brass Horse. We would like to thank Brass Horse and their staff for accommodating our event. We would like to thank Reen, Mary, and Tyler Cook for hosting our Trivia, along with Roger Mitchell. We would like to thank all the teams who participated in the Trivia, who purchased tickets for the Basket Raffle, TV and 50/50.
The Akwesasne Attack team consisted of 22 players at the start of the Fall Ball Lacrosse season, and at the time of travel to the Dick's Tournament, the team travelled with 16 players.
To start the tournament on Sunday December 29th at 8am, Game one was against Tampa Elite. Akwesasne fell to Tampa 8-2. Goal scorers were Isaiah Lyon and Trevan David, with Cash Feely making 15 saves. Game two of the day was against Federation Christian Academy. Akwesasne fell to them on a score of 9-2. Goal scorers were Isaiah Lyon and Kainen Francis. Cash Feely made 13 saves. Game three of the day was against Michigan Heat. Akwesasne fell to them on a score of 8-4. Isaiah Skidders had 3 goals and Kainen Francis had a single. The last game of the day was against Minnesota Elite. Akwesasne fell to them on a score of 9-1. The goal belonged to Isaiah Skidders. Cash Feely had 16 saves.
On day 2 of the tournament, Akwesasne played Colorado FCA and fell to them 9-2. Goal scorers were Rowisonkies Barnes and Trevan David and Cash Feely had 16 saves. The second game of the day was against Palm Beach Storm and Akwesasne fell to them 9-2. Both goals belonged to Isaiah Lyon. Cash Feely had 16 saves. The third game of the day Akwesasne played against Oneida. Akwesasne won 12-4 with Isaiah Skidders with 4 goals, Isaiah Lyon with 3 goals, Kainen Francis with 2 goals, Hunter Pyke with 1 goal, Keldren King with 1 goal, and Memphis Mitchell with 1 goal. Cash Feely had 9 saves.
The last day of the tournament Akwesasne played Maryland Admirals LC. Akwesasne won 12-3. Isaiah Skidders scored 5 goals, and single goals went to: Isaiah Lyon, Cobie Cree, Trevan David, Kainen Francis, Hunter Pyke and Nick Tremblay.
The Coaching Staff (Jim Barnes and Craig Cree) and Managers (Sandi Barnes and Carlene Cree) would like to thank our parents and players for their effort, dedication and commitment to the Fall and Winter season of Akwesasne Attack Lacrosse. Niawen!
