GERALD "WASHINGTON" "WISHE" THOMPSON

CORNWALL ISLAND – Gerald "Washington" – "Wishe" Thompson, age 57, of 20 Phillip Hopps Memorial Road, Cornwall Island, Ont., passed away very unexpectedly at his home on Wednesday, October 23, 2013.

Washington was born April 23, 1956 in Cornwall, Ontario to the late Bernard and Annie Leaf Thompson.

Wishe was a graduate of the General Vanier schools in Cornwall.  He married Darlene Cook on August 25, 2001.

Wishe worked at the traveling College, Huey Point Industrial; and as an Iron Worker for Local #440 in B.C., N.Y. and Montreal; and for Akwesasne Mohawk Security for 23 years.

Wishe was famous for playing the spoons, lawn sales, building picnic tables and many others projects.  The last project that he was working on was building his summer camp.

He is survived by his loving wife Darlene; four children: Gerald and Brianne; Rocky and Sara; Matt and Latoya; Travis and Jackie; as well as three step children: Cheryl and Casey; Nathan and Emily; Phil and Jaye.  Also surviving are eleven grandchildren; three God-children; Loran Francis, John Francis, and Samantha Thompson; and his God Mother Catherine Cook.

Washington is also survived by his six sisters; Joan and Richard Mitchell; Margie Thompson; Mary Hopkinson; Louise and Darrell Thompson; Linda Jackson; and Sandra and Cedric Isaac.  He is also survived by his in-laws; Gloria Thompson; Morley and Frances; Eva; Theresa and Dick; Veronica; Sylvia and Norris; Jerry and Celia; and Clint and Renee; and 42 nieces and nephews.

Washington was predeceased by his dad in December, 1986 and his mother in May, 1970.  Also by two brothers: Ronnie in June 1970; and Frank in July 1999.

Friends called at the family home starting Friday, Oct. 25th until a Mass of Resurrection held on Sunday, October 27, 2013 at the St. Regis Catholic Church with Rev. Jerome Pastores officiating; with Burial following in the St. Joseph's Cemetery, Hogansburg, NY.
