A Voice from the Eastern Door
An evening full of volleys and spikes on September 27 left the home crowd of spectators and a team, filled with exhilaration. The Lady Shamrocks dropped the first game 23-25 to the Canton Golden Bears but regrouped and went to work to win the next three games 25-17, 25-20, 25-16.
Britanny Brooks led the Shamrock attack, serving up 13 points with three assists. Raven Oakes followed with 11 service points, five aces and five kills. Iakohonwentsiawakon Mitchell fashioned 11 service points with seven aces, three kills while Raylynn Sunday added 10 points, five kills and eight assists. Taylin David played strong with 10 service points, five aces and five kills while Kiana Thompson added four points, three kills and two assists.
Salmon River 3-Gouverneur 0
Earlier in the week on Monday, the Lady Shamrocks swept past the Gouverneur Wildcats at home to even their record, 3-3. The scores were 25-27, 25-16, 25-16.
Raven Oakes had a team high for the Shamrocks with 11 service points, which included three aces. Brittany Brooks (2 aces) and Taylin David each added seven points. Raylynn Sunday collected six points and six assists while teammate Tsiiowisonte Laffin chipped in five points.
The next day the Shamrocks traveled to Edwards Knox and added another win to their record (4-3). The Lady Shamrocks took the first two games (25-15, 25-23) while E-K claimed the third (25-16). The Shamrocks rallied back in the fourth (25-11) to leave town with the win.
Raven Oakes anchored the win for SRC with 18 points, seven aces and five kills. Iakohonwentsiawakon Mitchell added 15 points and four aces while Raylynn Sunday tallied nine points with six assists and three kills. Taylin David followed with six points and three kills. Tsiiowisonte Laffin chipped in five points and Brittany Brooks had five assists.
