Dear Monica,

Each time a new computer specialist works on my computer, they seem to install their own personal favorite web browsers and anti virus software.  What is your favorite web browser and why?

Too Many Choices

Dear Too Many Choices,

We do have many web browsers to choose from (Firefox, Chrome, Safari, Opera, Internet Explorer and many others).  I actually use the top four I listed here because I test the web apps I develop for all popular web browsers.  People that are not developers are typically happy with any of the top four web browsers and it’s a matter of personal preference.  I usually suggest that people use the same web browser they use at their work place on their own home computers.  One thing to note is that many developers are not supporting Internet Explorer for many reasons, including the fact that it’s just not keeping up with today’s internet technologies.  The best choice is really going to be whatever web browser provides you with a pleasant experience for your own particular needs.  The way to find that answer is to install one and use it for a few hours.  Install another and test it out for a few hours, then make your decision after you’ve tried all your choices.
