Description of Position: The Traditional Support Worker reports to the Director of Social Services and is responsible for initiating, organizing, planning, developing and implementing activities associated with native culture, specifically Mohawk Iroquois. Will work closely with and collaborate with other cultural efforts in the community as well as community cultural experts and elders, for assigned young people, their families and staff.
Qualifications: High School diploma or GED equivalent and some experience working with youth. Knowledge of Kanienkehaka (Mohawk) culture/traditional practices, customs, language and possibly other American Indian or First Nations cultural traditions and teachings. Must be at least 21 years of age, have and maintain a valid driver’s license with a clean drivers abstract in accordance with the Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe’s Fleet Policy. Candidate must successfully pass criminal background check, prior to employment beginning.
