Description of Position: The Director of Communications is responsible for the strategic direction of the Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe’s tribal government public communications, public relations and events. Manages publications from concept to completion and translates objectives into creative strategies.

The Director of Communications works closely with the Tribal Council and senior staff, educating the community and surrounding areas about the Tribe’s organization, ensuring accurate, consistent and unified position statements. Responsible to promote a positive image of the Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe and the community of Akwesasne.

Qualifications:  Bachelor’s degree or higher in Communications or Public Relations preferred; or minimum five years related experience and/or training.  Minimum 5 years designing and executing best-in-class public relations initiatives. Experience working with Tribal, State or Federal governments preferred.  Knowledge of Akwesasne community history and political dynamics.
