Letter to the Editor

Letter to the Editor:

I just wanted to clarify that the letter that was sent to the Indian Time Newspaper was NOT written by myself. It was actually written by a volunteer coach from the Milton Little League and I thought that this letter was far too good not to share with the surrounding community. Although, if I were to write a letter on this particular topic, it would not be that far off at all. I feel it should be something shared before each season no matter what youth sport it is. I know there are a lot of volunteer coaches who also agree to what this coach is saying, as well as some parents who would like to speak out but feel they cannot. I have coached for just about 20 years in the North Franklin program at various levels and sports, and believe me I have been through some of the same issues. If I were to add to this letter, it would state the following, “coaching young student - athletes isn’t just about wins or losses on the court, in the arena, or in the field. It is about the wins and losses as they grow throughout their lives and how they react to those wins and losses. We all know life isn’t easy nor is it sugar coated.” This letter was just too good not to share and it certainly speaks volumes. Thank you for reading and please pass it on.
