Kason Tarbell was awarded the Multicultural High School Achievers Award from the University at Albany for his outstanding academic, school and community leadership among the Native American high school juniors. Dominique Jacobs was also a winner but was absent.
John Harvey accepts the Geologist Rock Hammer. He was the winner of the Outstanding Earth Science Student Award.
Senior Elijah Benedict receives an award from Michael Cook and Jeff Whalen from the Hogansburg American Legion Post #1479.
Jayson Cook was awarded the Title VII Award of Excellence from Katsitsionni Fox.
The Sandy Cook Citizenship award went to Cody Boardway. The award goes to a student that is always willing to go the extra mile for the school and his peers. Sandy Cook, Cody, Superintendent Jane Collins.
Athletic Administrator Kevin Walbridge awarded Brady Mitchell-Lazore the SRCS Outstanding Athlete Award.
On Thursday, May 2nd, high achieving Salmon River students were proudly recognized in the school’s auditorium as part of the annual Academic Awards Night.
Sandy Cook was on hand to host the evening, which he has done for the past 32 years. Superintendent Jane Collins, Principal Alison Benedict, the guidance staff including Andrea Martin, Rachelle Hayes and Melissa Kennedy as well as teachers and representatives from various organizations, handed out awards to students.
The Valedictorian and Salutatorian for Salmon River Central School class of 2013 were announced. Congratulations to Valedictorian Samantha Monette, daughter of Shawn and Janet Monette and Salutatorian Kaitlyn Pickering, daughter of Preston and Bonnie Pickering. Samantha will be heading to the Albany School of Pharmacy and Health Sciences in the fall to earn a Doctorate in Pharmacy. Kaitlyn will continue to pursue her education at Nazareth College to receive her Doctorate in Physical Therapy.
