Our Guest Speakers
Each of these individuals took the time to visit the students and cover the issues and topics discussed in the magazine: Pat Boots- Iethinistenha Ribbon Ceremony, Wanda Thompson- Akwesasne Child and Family Services (Cyber Bullying), Detective Hawi Thomas- SRMT Police (Intimate Partner Violence), Constable Robert White & Constable Wallace Thompson- Akwesasne Mohawk Police (Date Rape), Krysta Williams- Native Youth Sexual Health Network (Sexting) and Justin Kotyk- Youth Speaker (Gang Violence).
The Native Resource Staff at CCVS
These amazing teachers and staff members helped us along the way: Kahontineh Swamp, Richard TJ Point, April Thompson, Sandra Rourke and Jackie St John.
Artists
These talented individuals submitted original pieces from their personal collections to be used by the students: Breanne Thompson- Mohawks of Akwesasne submitted cover art, Kerdy Mitchell (Kerdy Mitcho)- Mohawks of Akwesasne submitted Table of Contents Art and Angela Sterritt- Gitxsan of British Columbia submitted “Protect The Future.”
Our Youth Advocates
These young women lead, guided, and facilitated the Honoring Youth Voices Magazine Project: Shara Francis-Herne- Project Facilitator and Manager, Roxann Whitebean- Project Facilitator and Editor and Ashley Tarbell- Communications Officer and Magazine formatting.
Without the dedication of all of the students and above named individuals this project would not have been possible.
