Emily Allen

HOGANSBURG – Mrs. Emily Allen, age 86, of 366 State Route 37, passed away Tuesday morning, April 16, 2013 in the emergency room at Massena Memorial Hospital. She had been a resident of Iakhihsohtha Lodge for the past four years.

Emily was born July 16, 1926 in Hogansburg, the daughter of the late Joseph and Harriet Sawatis Herne. She attended schools on the reservation and worked at Shields Slipper Factory for many years until her retirement. Emily enjoyed playing cards and bingo.

Emily is survived by her children, Diane Jenkins of Massena; George and Darlene Allen of Browns Valley, California; Donna and Lyle Donnelly of Louisville; Wanda Maskell of Scranton, PA; and Edith Brown of Buffalo; many grandchildren; several great grandchildren; her brother, Richard Herne of Hogansburg; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her sister, Josephine Cook and her brothers, Howard, Francis P. and Alexander Herne.

Friend may call at Kateri Hall beginning 1:00 PM Wednesday until 1:00 PM Thursday. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday 2:00 PM at St. Regis Catholic Church with Rev. Jerome Pastores, celebrating. Cremation will follow.
