My Favorite Elder

The Office for the Aging is proud to honor those elders whose contributions have made them powerful and vital members of this community. We are excited to announce our 4th Annual “My Favorite Elder” writing contest which will coincide with the National theme for Older Americans Month which is: Unleash the Power of Age!

All community members are invited to participate and their essay should include the following:

· Feature at least one living elder aged 60 or older.

· Describe why the Elder inspires you, and how the Elder embodies the theme of-Unleash the Power of Age!

· We are looking for elders who are productive, active, and influential members of society.

Include how the Elder shares their wisdom, experience, and skills with others.

Essays are to be no more than 500 words in length and are to be submitted to the senior center at 29 Business Park Road, Hogansburg, NY 13655. You may also email your essay to [email protected] with the Subject Line as “My Favorite Elder”. Entry deadline is by 4 pm April 4th. Winners will be notified on the 5th. The writer of the essay as well as the featured elder will be acknowledged during the Mothers Day Evening Meal to be held in May at the senior center.
