Annual Salary: SP 10 - $38,282.00 - $41,406.00
SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITY:
The Researcher is responsible for carrying out research objectives and projects of the ARRO within set timelines for potential and existing land claims and litigation opportunities, as well as providing research support for other ARRO projects.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
University Degree in History, Governance, Political Science, Anthropology Native Studies, or related field; with 1 year related experience in researching aboriginal issues;
The incumbent will be responsible for researching analyzing and compiling data; assisting in the preparation of research submissions; drafting narratives, articles, correspondence and other written materials; performing archival research; providing litigation and negotiation support; monitoring current issues related to the Aboriginal Rights of the Mohawks of Akwesasne; and ensuring that historical, data and records are maintained and accessible.
Must have excellent oral and written communications skills; ability to speak the Mohawk Language and knowledge of the Mohawk Culture is an asset. Must have personal vehicle and be willing to use personal vehicle during the course of employment;
