St. Lawrence River Seasonal Photography Contest

The St. Lawrence River AOC program at the Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe (SRMT) and the Friends of the Robert Moses State Park (RMSP) Nature Center has partnered to create the St. Lawrence River Seasonal Photography Contest. This contest was designed to promote the appreciation for the natural beauty of the St. Lawrence River and the many beneficial uses that it provides by asking community members from Massena and Akwesasne to showcase what they love about the environment along the St. Lawrence River all year long.

“We’re very excited to work with the Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe and be a part of this project,” said Mary Danboise, Executive Director of the Friends of the RMSP Nature Center. “We’ve been offering programs on Nature Photography through our ‘Mind, Body, Soul – Come Alive’ grant and this will give those participants an opportunity to show their work.”

Each season for 2 weeks a photography contest will be held for community members from Massena and Akwesasne of all ages and skill levels. The first contest will take place during winter from March 8-22. Photographs must be taken within the St. Lawrence River AOC, which includes the St. Lawrence River and adjoining tributaries of the Grasse, Raquette, and St. Regis rivers. The goal is to get people outdoors by having them take photographs of what they love about the natural environment, or activities that they enjoy doing outside. Winners will be announced March 29 and will receive a gift donated by the RMSP Nature Center and have their photos displayed at the St. Lawrence Centre mall. Only one photograph per person will be allowed to enter per season (4 in total) and they can be in color, or black and white. No Photoshop will be allowed.
