Akwesasne Wolves Overpower Casselman 4-2

Anowarakowa Arena - It was an exciting night for the Akwesasne Wolves Jr. B Hockey Team as they overpowered the Casselman Vikings 4-2.

The Wolves jumped out of the gate quickly as forward Oakley Thomas caught a pass from Dominick Coyle and Justin Rutley and converted it, putting the puck past Vikings’ Alexandre Michaud in the opening minutes of the 1st period to get the Wolves on the board first. But Casselman battled back in the offensive zone with a series of passes starting with Curtis Chennette to Thierry Henry then ending with Taylor Widenmaier who converted it to a slapshot that just trickled between the legs of Cam Turcotte and crossed the goal line. With the game tied 1-1, the Wolves rushed up the ice with Derik Dionne passing it to Andrew Kistabish who in turn passed it to forward Alex Conroy-Terrance who broke the tie with a quick shot on net to put the Wolves back in the lead 2-1 to close out the 1st period.

With the start of the 2nd period, the Wolves continued to stay on their scoring track as Justin Rutley caught a pass from Teilen Celentano and rushed the net to beat Alexandre Michaud and put the Wolves up 3-1. With the Casselman Vikings down 3-1 and desperately needing a goal to ease the scoring gap, they sent out Curtis Chennette who converted a pass from Taylor Widenmaier and Thierry Henry to ease the gap and make the score 3-2.

Entering the 3rd period, the Wolves still holding the momentum and lead built up from the previous two periods, continued the scoring with Sylvester Bzdyl who finishing off the scoring with a goal assisted by Alex Conroy-Terrance to close out the night 4-2 in the Wolve’s favor.
