Seaway Motors Presents Check to Akwesasne Minor Hockey Association

On Wednesday, Seaway GM President Andre Lapointe presented a check for $1000 to the Akwesasne Minor Hockey Association. The Akwesasne Minor Hockey Association will be sending seven teams, along with their families, to the Little Native Hockey League Tournament hosted by Six Nations Minor Hockey Association, and taking place in Mississauga, Ontario. The tournament runs between March 10-14, 2013 and will be in the round robin format.

Mark Terrance, who is president of the Akwesasne Minor Hockey Association and coaches the bantam team and trains the midget team, accepted the check on behalf of the Akwesasne Hockey Association. Terrance’s daughter Gina plays on the boys pee-wee team.

Terrance said, “Not many of the families are well off, and I am trying to get hockey back. We need all the help we can get, to get funding for this. In a few years I would like to see a tournament here in the area, have games at the Benson center and Anowarakowa.”

Lapointe said, “As a business, we are really happy that we can support the Akwesasne Minor Hockey Association. The people of Akwesasne are very good customers of ours, and any time we can help, we will, and good luck to the teams!”
