Massena Boys Prevail Over Gutsy Shamrocks

The final home game for the Red Raider seniors went the way they hoped with a win over the visiting Shamrocks. The Massena boys closed out the NAC regular season with a 67-37 victory over Salmon River in the Massena High School gym.

The Red Raiders streaked out and worked their way to a 24-6 first quarter lead and headed to the locker room at halftime with a 43-9 lead. The Shamrocks came out in the second half and went to work to chip away at the Massena lead.

Senior Zack Rusaw led the Red Raider offense with a game high 22 points while senior teammate Joey LaBelle netted another 10. Senior Zach Fregoe added another eight points while Rhoades Tarbell, Robert Cameron and David Phillips chipped in four points each. Zevon Viskovich rounded out the scoring with two points.

The Shamrocks were led by Josh Hynes who fired through 16 points. Tyler Brooks and Phil Barbour generated six points apiece while Jordan Wood contributed three. Justin Bigness and Dawson David added two points each while Dylan Whitehead and Elden King each had solo free throws. Massena’s record improves to 10-8,7-5.
