Fort Covington - The Salmon River Shamrocks girls basketball team swept past the St. Regis Falls Saints at a score of 86-24.
The 1st quarter started off with St. Regis Falls getting on the board first with a free throw. The Shamrocks’ offense started off quickly with Taylor Francis putting up the first points for the Salmon River offense to get the Shamrocks on the boards.
The 2nd quarter was a reflection of the 1st quarter with the Shamrocks’ offense putting up a substantial amount of points. In the 2nd quarter alone the Shamrocks’ offense combined for 18 points. The 2nd quarter ended with a halftime score of 44-14.
With the Shamrocks having a 30 point lead over the Saints, they didn’t look back. They continued to build off of the Saints’ offensive mistakes and converted them into offensive plays. The Shamrocks played conservative defense to keep the Saints out of shooting range.
With the 4th and final quarter, the Shamrocks’ offense continued their strong and conservative playing, which they continued to transition into quick points. The Shamrocks’ offense closed out the game with a convincing combined 86 points.
Shamrocks’ Abby Kelly led all shooters with a season-high 48 points while Jaiden Mitchell and Taylor Francis both contributed 12 points. Brittany Rondeau led the Saints’ offense with 10 points.
