A Voice from the Eastern Door
When Salmon River and Massena hockey teams face off against each other it’s usually a battle. Last Wednesday’s game was no exception as the two teams fought to the end to break a 1-1 tie in overtime.
The first period saw the only scoring in regulation playing time when Red Raider Tyler Young opened up the scoring at the 7:34 mark with a breakaway goal set up by Zach Robert. The Shamrocks answered back at 10:30 when Nate Smoke finished off a play set up by Naylen Laffin-Stone to tie the game 1-1.
With 1:09 left in overtime play, Robert knocked in the rebound from a shot by Grayson Phillips to win the game for the Raiders. Young was also credited with the assist.
Conner Paquin tallied 17 saves for the win, while Aiden Comins turned aside 26 shots for the Shamrocks.
