A Voice from the Eastern Door
Imagine you believed in Christmas, the magic, the spirit of giving, the toys and the fat man in a bright red suit. And imagine you have six children who believe in it more than you do yourself. And for all the magic in the world things don’t go the way you want and the fat man in the red suit will not in all likelihood find his way to your house. But this time is different, this Christmas magic found its way to unite one family with Noonie Thomas and her annual Christmas give away. Each year Noonie Thomas donates an entire “Christmas” in memory of her father Standing Arrow. Her father would surely smile down when he saw the faces of six little girls giggly and running around the presents and tree.
This year “Christmas” was given to Chrystal Peters and her six daughters. They received a Christmas tree, presents for each daughter, and a food basket from the Akwesasne Basket Drive. Coordinated between the organizers of the Akwesasne Basket Drive, Sara Herne and Jenna Herne, and the Akwesasne Boys and Girls Club Nikaiataa Skidders, Noonie Thomas was united with Chrystal Peters and her six giggly daughters.
