A Voice from the Eastern Door
In Massena’s home opener, the Lady Raiders went out fast and hard to lead, 31-18, at the half. They kept the momentum going through the second half to post an NAC victory over the St. Lawrence Larries, 57-46.
Senior Alisha Jacobs led the way for the Lady Raiders with a team high of 16 points, which includes three three-pointers, five rebounds and five assists. Sidney Thompson hit for 15 points, grabbed six rebounds and two steals. Marissa Manley added 14 points and 12 boards, while Samantha Villnave notched six points and nine rebounds. Robin Boudreau (2 rebounds) and Erin Francis netted two points apiece, and Dominique Valencius added a point and six rebounds to round out the Raider scoring. Maeve Curran grabbed three rebounds in the winning effort.
Breanne Vatter had a game high 22 points as she hit four three-pointers for the Larries. Lindsey Thayer followed with 13 points and 12 rebounds. Jenna Kesner (4 assists), and Sam Richards (7 rebounds) generated four points each, while Noelle Rufa chipped in two points. Caitlyn Grow worked the boards for three rebounds.
Massena vs. Canton
The Lady Raiders had just come off a win earlier in the week but couldn’t keep the momentum going against the visiting Canton Golden Bears as they took a 41-71 loss.
The Lady Raiders kept pace with the Golden Bears during the first half and only trailed by five points with the score 26-21. The Lady Golden Bears came out for the second half and went to work to win their second game of the season.
Senior Marissa Manley had a game high 23 points, 14 rebounds and three steals for the Lady Raiders. Alisha Jacobs followed with seven points and three assists, while Samantha Villnave netted six points. Dominique Valencius added three points and three assists as Sidney Thompson generated two points. Taylor Peets contributed a free throw to round out the Raider scoring.
Tori Daley paced the Golden Bears with 16 points while teammates Katie Christy, Emma Rexford and Emily Pinckney added 12 points apiece. Kaeli Mace netted six points and Jamie DiSalvo had four points. Megan Howard had three points and Taylor Reed had two points.
