Catherine M. Tarbell

AKWESASNE – Ms. Catherine M. Tarbell, age 80, formerly a resident of Sweet Grass Manor, peacefully passed away Tuesday afternoon, December 4, 2012 at Tsiionkwanonhso:te, Cornwall Island Long Term Care Facility.

Catherine was born June 13, 1932 in Syracuse, the daughter of the late Thomas Tarbell and Nancy Oakes Jackson. She attended schools in Syracuse and Akwesasne. She was a homemaker and worked for General Dynamics in Rochester before moving back to Syracuse. She also loved to play bingo.

Catherine is survived by her three daughters, Wanda Murray of Dallas, Georgia; Michelle Crenan and David Wright of Solvay; Jessica Bonaparte of Syracuse; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; her sister, Josephine Tarbell of Akwesasne, Quebec; and her companion, Howard Thompson.

She was predeceased by longtime companion and father of her children, Robert James Murray in 2007, two children, Robert James Murray, Jr in 1988, Cynthia Lynn Murray in 2005, four brothers, Lawrence Jackson, Kenneth, Huey, and Dan Tarbell; and two sisters, Sarah White and Mae Tarbell.

There will be no calling hours. A memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family.

Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the American or Canadian Cancer Societies.
