SENTENCING

Albany, NY - Adam M. Jacobs, 24, of Hogansburg, was sentenced Friday in U.S. District Court, Albany to 87 months in prison for March 23 guilty pleas to conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute and to possession with intent to distribute more than 100 kilograms of marijuana, and possession of a firearm by a prohibited person.

He was also ordered to undergo five additional years of supervision upon his release from prison and to forfeit the guns.

UNLAWFUL POSSESSION

Massena, NY - Valerie R. Jackson, 17, of Hogansburg was charged by Massena-based state police with unlawful possession of marijuana at 3:05 a.m. Saturday following a secondary inspection at the U.S. port of entry. She was a passenger in a vehicle being operated by Hank Delisle, 20, of Fort Covington. Delisle was charged with driving while intoxicated.

DWI

Massena, NY - Hank A. Delisle, 20, of Fort Covington was charged by Massena-based state police with driving while intoxicated, second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and possession of licenses from more than one jurisdiction following an incident at 3:05 a.m. Saturday at the U.S. port of entry in Rooseveltown.

ATTEMPTED MURDER &

ARSON

Cornwall, ON - A 20-year-old St. Regis, Quebec man was arrested on November 18th, 2012. It is alleged that on November 17th, 2012 shortly prior to 3:30 am, he attended his 17-year-old ex-girlfriend’s sister’s residence and started a fire. The 5 residents were able to exit the residence safely. Police and Fire were contacted and an investigation followed. He was charged with Arson - Disregard for Human Life and Attempted Murder. He was held until court on November 19th, 2012. His name was not released as it would identify the victims.

SENTENCING

Franklin County, NY - Kashtin M. Millett, 20, of Hogansburg, was sentenced to four months in County Jail for pleading guilty to Superior Court Information rather than a formal grand-jury indictment to third-degree attempted burglary, stemming from an incident in July 2011.He was also ordered to serve five years probation and pay $2,265 in restitution.

SENTENCING

Franklin County, NY - Kimberly Wylie, 31, of Hogansburg, pleaded not guilty to three counts of third-degree forgery, six counts of fourth-degree grand larceny and six counts of fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, stemming from an incident April 10, 2011. A conference in the case is set for Aug. 12.

ACCREDITATION ASSESSMENT TEAM INVITES PUBLIC COMMENT

Cornwall, ON- A team of assessors from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA®) will arrive on Sunday December 2nd, 2012 to examine all aspects of the Cornwall Community Police Service’s policy and procedures, management, operations, and support services, Chief Daniel Parkinson announced.

  As part of the on-site assessment, agency personnel and members of the community are invited to offer comments at a public information session held Monday, December 3rd, 2012 at 6 p.m. The session will be conducted in the Community Room at the Seaway Valley Community Health Centre, 353 Pitt Street.

 If for some reason an individual cannot speak at the public information session but would still like to provide comments to the assessment team, he/she may do so by telephone. The public may call 613-933-5000 ext. 2691 on Monday December 3rd, 2012 between the hours of 2 and 4 p.m.

 Telephone comments as well as appearances at the public information session are limited to 10 minutes and must address the agency’s ability to comply with CALEA Standards.  A copy of the Standards is available at the Cornwall Community Police Service.
