Brett “The Hitman” Hart Takes Championship Belt

Approximately forty fans made the trip down to the Saratoga Springs City Center in Saratoga Springs, NY to witness Brett “the Hitman” Hart win his 1st MMA Title Belt.

On Saturday Night, a part of history was written into the books. At 18 years old, Brett “The Hitman” Hart of D&B Combat Sports won the Kaged Kombat 155lbs Belt from the Title Holder Mike Dorsey. At 18 years old, Hart became the youngest fighter in any weight class in Kaged Kombat history.

Brett “The Hitman” Hart, fighting out of D&B Sports in Akwesasne, NY was looking to add a win to his 2-1 record while Mike Dorsey, fighting out of Albany Submission in Albany, NY looked to boost his 2-0 record.

As the 1st round started, Dorsey came out with a series of quick punches and kicks, which Hart quickly reacted to and defended against. Hart, now on the offensive, started off with a few punches to adjust to Dorsey’s fighting style. After making the adjustments, Hart went for a takedown and successfully brought Dorsey down with him. Hart then got Dorsey’s back and went in for the choke, as Dorsey was standing up, Hart went for the full mount and continued for the choke, but time expired.

As the 2nd round began, Hart already had in mind what was going to be the necessary steps to bring this guy down and win the match. As Dorsey approached Hart to start another series of punches and kicks, Hart quickly went in again and successfully brought Dorsey back to the ground where he could start working on a way to subdue Dorsey. On numerous occasions, Dorsey repeatedly tried to break Hart’s grip and get back up and use his standup style, but Hart reacted each time and brought Dorsey back down to the canvas.

As the 3rd round began, Dorsey was already looking tired and gassed from the rigorous previous 2 rounds. Hart quickly noticed that and took full advantage of Dorsey’s fatigue. Like in the previous round, Dorsey repeatedly tried to stand back up and Hart brought him back to the mat each and every time. Finally, Hart got the back mount and proceeded to a rear naked chokehold. The fate looked sealed for Dorsey but time was running out fast. Just as the 10 seconds mark came, Dorsey pulled out of the rear naked chokehold and stood up as time expired.

As the 4th round came around, Dorsey came out with a series of punches and low kicks to try to weaken Hart’s legs. Hart again brought Dorsey to the canvas where Dorsey tried to work a guillotine chokehold onto Hart. As Hart got out of the chokehold, Dorsey then proceeded to try a rear naked chokehold on Hart. Hart was trained in ground game and knew how to reverse such a hold, which he exemplified in the cage. Hart proceeded to get the full mount and started a series of hooks and hammer fists, which weakened Dorsey as time expired.

At the beginning of the 5th and final round, Dorsey was definitely feeling the effects of the previous 4 rounds and Hart quickly noticed it. Hart knew how to finish the fight, which he was in the process of doing as time expired.

As they presented the belt to the “New 155lbs Kaged Kombat Champion,” Hart collapsed to his knees in disbelief that he had accomplished such an amazing feat at such a young age. Hart followed up the belt presentation with a speech thanking his friends and family for coming to Saratoga Springs to watch him, his fight team who helped him every step of the way, and most importantly his mother and father: Gail and Fabian Hart for supporting him every step of the way. He finished his speech by dedicating his fight and belt to his good friend Kanatiio Adams who died in January.

Hart’s next fight date is not confirmed yet, but will become public when the date becomes official.
