Salmon River Boys Take Third in Bill O’Neill Tourney

On Saturday, the Salmon River Boys Varsity soccer team traveled to the Massena turf field to finish the 30th Annual Bill O’Neill Memorial Tournament. The tourney had to be postponed from an earlier date due to poor weather conditions.

In a previous game, Salmon and Massena had played to a tie but had to go to a shootout to determine which team would continue on to the championship game. Massena won the shootout and the Shamrocks earned a spot in the consolation game against Herman-De Kalb.

Salmon River came out strong and got the job done by shutting out Herman-De Kalb 4-0. Naylen Laffin, Josh Hines, Antoine Domino and Ryan Thomas were credited for scoring goals for the Shamrocks while Brady Mitchell assisted in three of the goals. Zach Smith posted seven saves in the crease to earn the shut out for Salmon.

Brady Mitchell and Zach Smith were named to the All-Tournament Team.
