Description of Position: The patrol officer is responsible for the impartial enforcement of all laws and local ordinances, preservation of peace, protection of lives and property, investigation of criminal offenses, apprehension of criminals and lawbreakers and other related work in accordance with the law, rules, regulations, and the administrative policies and procedures of the Saint Regis Mohawk Tribal Police Department.
Qualifications: High School Diploma required. Applicants with Criminal Justice Degree and/or Military experience are preferred. Equivalent combinations of work related experience and training certificates will be considered. Applicants must be at least 21 years of age. Will be subjected to an extensive background investigation and all applicants tentatively selected will be required to submit to a drug test. Applicant must not have been convicted of a felony, and must not have been convicted of any misdemeanor within the thirty-six month period prior to appointment, nor any crime involving moral turpitude. Applicant must pass a physical fitness test and be willing to perform strenuous activity. Appointments will be probationary for a maximum period of one year. Applicants must possess and maintain a clean driver’s abstract in accordance with the Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe’s driving policy.
