The Alcoholism Chemical Dependency Prevention Monthly Activity Program is designed to expose youth culturally in Akwesasne to new, fun, challenging and cultural diverse activities. The goal is to increase self-esteem, social skills, communication skills, team building skills, and to reduce the early on-set of drugs and alcohol use. Research proves that the longer we delay the onset the less likely they are to become addicted. Prevention Activities are provided monthly during the school year.
This month we took the first 25 registerd children ages 7 and up to a High Ropes and Zip lining course in Rigaud Quebec. The youth were able to test their limits, face some fears and take some risks. Our youth really enjoyed themselves. It was a great experience and showed them how you can enjoy natural highs in life. For more information regarding upcoming activities and dates please call the A/CDP Prevention Program at (518) 358-2967
