Curtis E. Mitchell of 181 St. Regis Road, has been ordered by Massena Town Justice Gerald P. Sharlow to a pay a $125 surcharge after a felony burglary charge was reduced to a misdemeanor count of petit larceny. Mitchell was also ordered to follow the terms of a no contact order of protection. These stem from an incident where Mitchell reportedly stole a digital recorder from Brooke M. White’s residence at Apt. C-4, County Route 45, Iroquois Village on Dec. 11.

Trey C. Smoke, 19, of 232 Hemlock Ave., Akwesasne, was ordered by Massena Town Justice Gerald P. Sharlow to pay a $50 fine and a $125 surcharge after a seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance count was reduced to a disorderly conduct violation. This stems from an incident at the U.S. port of entry in Rooseveltown where Smoke was reportedly found in possession of 16 hydrocodeine pills without a prescription during a secondary inspection on Jan. 16.

MARIJUANA POSSESSION

Freeman M. Oakes, 16, of Hogansburg ticketed by Massena village police with unlawful possession of marijuana at the J.W. Leary Junior High’s summer school program.

THREE ARRESTED IN MARIJUANA CONSPIRACY

Syracuse, NY—United States Attorney Richard S. Hartunian announced the arrest and indictment of three (3) individuals in connection with a marijuana distribution organization in Central New York. Those indicted in the marijuana distribution conspiracy include the following:

LUMAN PARO, age 51, Syracuse, New York;

AMOS CONNERS aka AMOS CONNORS, age 41, Hogansburg, New York; and

MELISSA BROWN, age 42, Hogansburg, New York;

All of these individuals have been indicted by a federal grand jury with conspiring to possess with the intent to distribute and distributing over 100 kilograms of marijuana. If convicted, the defendants face a mandatory five year minimum term of imprisonment up to a maximum of forty years imprisonment, up to a $5 million fine, and at least four years of supervised release following any period of incarceration.

ASSAULT

Eric D. Terrance, 49, of Hogansburg was charged by Massena-based state police with third-degree assault and third-degree menacing following a complaint filed with troopers at 7:15 a.m. Saturday from the town of Massena. He allegedly repeatedly punched cab driver Thomas Curran while inside Mr. Curran’s taxi.

UNLAWFUL POSSESSION

Samantha R. Green, 21, of Akwesasne, Que., was charged by Massena-based state police with unlawful possession of marijuana. The marijuana was located during a secondary inspection by U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents at 3:20 p.m. Saturday at the U.S. port of entry in Rooseveltown.

CRIMINAL MISCHIEF

Nathan A. Bigtree, 24, of Hogansburg was charged by Malone-based state police with criminal mischief (danger greater than $250) following an incident at 12:37 a.m. Saturday on Route 30 in the town of Constable.

BREACH

Cornwall, ON- Alfred Papineau, 30 of Hogansburg, New York, was arrested on August 19th, 2012. He was bound by an Undertaking with the conditions to abstain from consumption of alcohol or other intoxicating substances and keep the peace and be of good behaviour. It is alleged that on August 19th, 2012 he attended the Canadian Border Service Agency while being under the influence of alcohol. He was detained by a member of the Canadian Border Service Agency and turned over to a member of the Cornwall Community Police Service Patrol Division. He was charged with 2 counts of Fail to Comply with Undertaking and held in custody until court later that day.

DRIVE WHILE DISQUALIFIED

Cornwall, ON- An 18-year-old Akwesasne female was arrested on August 18th, 2012. She had 2 outstanding driving suspensions for Dangerous Operation of a motor vehicle and 1 for Flight from Police. It is alleged that on August 18th, 2012 she attended the Canadian Border Agency Service where she was detained for the outstanding suspensions. She was turned over to a member of the Cornwall Community Police Service Patrol Division and charged with 3 counts of Drive While Disqualified. She was released to appear in court on October 9th, 2012. Her name was not released as per provision under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

WARRANT

Cornwall, ON- David Harley, 23 of Akwesasne, was arrested on August 20th, 2012 under the strength of an outstanding warrant. It is alleged that on August 14th, 2012 he failed to attend court and a bench warrant was issued. He turned himself into police and was released to appear in court on November 25th, 2012.
