REPAIR EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE PROGRAM

The Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe’s HIP Program is now taking applications for the Repair Emergency Assistance Program.

A request for assistance can be made by picking up an application at the HIP office; or at the Reception area at the Saint Regis Mohawk Tribal Community Building.

APPLICATION GUIDELINES:

Ø  Income verification for all adults in household

Ø  If handicapped or have a health disability a doctor’s certification

Ø  Proof of land ownership

Ø  Request must include the information about the home

o  Location

o  Brief description of the problems

o  Electricity

o  Type of sewer

o  Water source (waterline/well, etc.)

o  Number of bedrooms

o Bathroom facilities

o Type of roofing

o Type of windows

o Type of basement (full, crawl space, wood, etc.)

o   Does dwelling need handicap fixtures

CRITERIA FOR ASSISTANCE:

Priority is given to seniors (55 and over) in need of assistance for home repairs.  The REAP will consider applicants if they meet the following requirements:

Ø  An enrolled member of the Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe

Ø  Reside on the Southern portion of the reservation

Ø  Must own and live in the house that requires repairs

Deadline for submission has been extended to August 17, 2012.
