Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

Do you know what to do if you or your family were caught in an emergency or disaster? Do you want to make sure that your family will be safe? If you want to learn exactly what to do and to help other Akwesasronon get out of danger, then please volunteer and become a member of the Community Emergency Response Team!

A Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) volunteer receives education in disaster preparedness for hazards that may impact their area and trains in basic disaster response skills, such as fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization, and disaster medical operations. Using the training learned in the classroom and during exercises, CERT volunteers can assist others in the Akwesasne community or workplace following an event when professional responders are not immediately available.  This training is available to residents of Tsi Snaihne only.  Additional training will be scheduled for the District of Kanatakon and Kawehnoke at later dates.

Training begins on August 20th thru August 24th, 2012 (6:00 PM – 9:00 PM) at the Snye Recreation Center.  Before you sign up, please understand that you must be able to attend all of the training scheduled for the week. Deadline for registration is Friday, August 17th 2012 @ 4 PM.
