A Voice from the Eastern Door

Yes, there are Alligators in Snye!

“A picture is worth a thousand words.” The picture also confirms that the legend about Snye alligators is real.

This unfortunate reptile was confiscated from a residence in Snye. The Conservation Office: Taylor Mitchell (Conservation Officer); Nathan Cole, (Jr. Conservation Officer) and the Compliance Office: Josh Mitchell, (Acting Compliance Officer) and Lelan Clute (Acting Compliance Officer) were involved with the care and control of the juvenile American alligator until it was transported to Environment Canada.

All joking aside, please be aware that alligators are illegal and cannot be brought into Canada, even as a pet, without a proper import permit. A Toronto Area resident was fined $5,000 for bring four baby alligators into Canada. An alligator can reach up to 800 pounds in weight and grow 13 to 14.5 feet as an adult.
