Notice to the Community

This is to inform the community that the following persons have applied for Akwesasne Membership under the Akwesasne Membership Code.

Theresa Doxtator, age 63, currently a member of the Oneida Nation of the Thames.  

Alexis Jeanette Leaf, age 18, daughter of Alicia A. Leaf (Akwesasne).

Tewentenhawihtha Aldrich, age 18, daughter of Anna Thompson (Akwesasne) and Charles Aldrich, Winnebago (Nebraska).

Cody Smoke Remirez, age 20, son of Valerie Smoke (Akwesasne) and Willie Ramirez, a non-native.

The following persons have applied for Residency Permits.

Julie Johnson (Oneida), age 44, Laura Thompson, age 24, Belson Jones (Onondaga), age 62 and Darilee Whythe (Mississauga), age 21.

The following persons have had Probationary Akwesasne Membership, The Membership Board is now going to consider granting them full Akwesasne Membership.

Laura Maneilly, age 35, daughter of Sharon Square (Akwesasne) and Edwin Maneilly, a non-native.

Windy Sabourin, age 31, daughter of Peter Square (Akwesasne) and Hilda Tyo, a non-native.

Stacey Oakes, age 46, daughter of Veronica Cook (Akwesasne ) and Paul Tatlock, a non-native.

Community Members have until Friday, July 13, 2012 to indicate whether they wish to make submissions regarding the above applicants, by contacting the Office of Vital Statistics.

At the Akwesasne Membership Board meeting of June 9, 2012, the Membership Board granted full Akwesasne Membership to Leilani Shaw, Tazazz Jacobs-Oakes, Jeffrey Cook, Jazz Cook, Zaagaate Jock, Enigoonse Jock, and approved a one year residency permit for Skasenneo Shenandoah and Daniel Bruyere.

At the Akwesasne Membership Board meeting of June 13, the Membership Board granted full Akwesasne Membership to Annie Gambill, Kaitlyn Oakes, Chanel Strable, Allison Boots, Taryn Point, and Darren Major.  The Board granted Carmalita Swamp and Forrester Gambill probationary membership and a one year Residency Permit.

Community members wishing to appeal the Membership Board’s decisions on the above applicants have 30 days to appeal to the Council of Elders.
