1. The New York Regents Diploma with Advanced Designation HONORS is awarded to seniors who have earned an average of a 90 or better on the Regents Examinations. This year, we have two seniors who have met this requirement: SEAN GODARD and ANNA KELLY
2. Academic Excellence Scholarships are based on scholastic achievement in high school. This year one of our graduates is being awarded a $1500.00 scholarship. Congratulations ANNA KELLY.
We also have three other graduates each receiving a $500.00 scholarship.
These winners are: SEAN GODARD, KARA GRANT and LESLEE LORAN
3. The Suzanne Bilow Memorial Scholarship is presented to a student who has taken advanced level Spanish, has a love and appreciation for the Hispanic culture, is a cooperative student and is a kind hearted individual who looks for the good in others. The recipient for the Suzanne Bilow Memorial Scholarship is MICHAELA QUINN.
Michaela completed all available levels of Spanish offered here at Salmon River. She fulfilled a promise to Suzanne to finish a full sequence and did so with commendable effort and grades. Over the years of her studies, Michaela came to appreciate not only the language, but also the culture, which is a key influencing component of the language. In and beyond Spanish class, Michaela is a well-rounded student who is respected by her peers and teachers alike. She is cooperative and a genuinely kind- hearted young woman, who is true to herself. Congratulations to MICHAELA QUINN.
4. The Akwesasne Area Management Board is presenting awards to graduating seniors who were employed through their program.
The recipients are: KARENNOTAKIES BARNES, KELLI COOK, JOSEPH CROSS, JERRAD JOHN, ROWEREN LAZORE, MASON PHILLIPS, CHANEL STRABLE and BLAINE THOMAS
5. Each year, the Salmon River Civil Service Employees Association Unit #6854 presents scholarships to graduating seniors who plan to continue their education and whose parent or guardian is an Active member of the unit. This year the CSEA Theresa Armstrong Memorial Award is presented to: TANNER BEAUDIN
-The George Bero Memorial Award is presented to: NOAH BERO
6. As Guidance Office Secretary for 44 years, Joan Cunningham’s career embodied service to others. Assisting students with preparing for college was a priority in her work. Her dedication to helping others extended well beyond the students and staff at Salmon River. The Joan M. Cunningham Memorial Scholarship is awarded to an applicant who plans on attending college, has acceptable school attendance and is of good character and has a strong link to community service.

7. The Elizabeth Ashley Memorial Scholarship in the amount of $1000.00 is given to a graduating senior who plans to attend a two or four year college and who is affiliated with the First Presbyterian Church of Fort Covington or the United Methodist Church of Bombay.

8. The North Franklin Federal Credit Union Award is presented to a student who is a member, or child of a member of the North Franklin Federal Credit Union, whose account is in good standing and is a college bound senior at the time of application. This year’s recipients of the Anne T. Anderson Memorial Award are: ERROLYNN BRADLEY, CONNOR MACDONALD, MICHAELA QUINN and KARYSS TERRANCE
9. The Salmon River Teachers’ Association is pleased to award four scholarships to our graduating seniors:
-The Thomas Cavanaugh Memorial Scholarship is given in the memory of our retired and deceased teachers. This scholarship is given to the Valedictorian of the Class of 2012: SEAN GODARD
-The Lyle Crofoot Memorial Scholarship is awarded to the son or daughter of an active member of the Salmon River Teachers’ Association.
Congratulations to MATTHEW HEALY.
-The Harry J. Weir Memorial Scholarship is a four year scholarship given to a college bound student seeking a teaching career.
This scholarship is awarded to: ERROLYNN BRADLEY
-The Viola Mayhew Memorial Scholarship is awarded to a college bound student also seeking a teaching career. This scholarship is awarded to: TANNER BEAUDIN
10. The New York State Correctional Officers & Police Benevolent Association is presenting a scholarship to two of our graduates whose parent is a member of this association. Congratulations to: TYLER HANCE and MATTHEW HEALY
11. The St. Regis Mohawk Tribal Gaming Enterprise Scholarship has been designed to encourage our students to attend a two or four year college in the field of casino management or a related field. The initial monetary award in the amount of $500 will be given for 2012. This award will continue on an annual basis for the length of the college program for a total package of $1000 for a 2 year program or $2000 for a 4 year program.
This year, we have two winners: COLBY KING-JACOBS and KOLBY SMOKE
12. The Board of Trustees of the Bruce L. Crary Foundation has determined that the following seniors have met the criteria for their scholarship.

KARA GRANT and TEESHA MITCHELL
13. The Highland Greens Golf Course is presenting a scholarship to a student who has participated in activities at school, has a high academic standing in the class and plans to attend college. The winner is: MATTHEW HEALY
14. The SeaComm Shirley J. Eagles Scholarship is awarded to a student whose parent is a member of SeaComm Credit Union and who has an 85 or above GPA. This scholarship was presented earlier this month, but we would like to recognize NOAH BERO AND SEAN GODARD for this achievement.
15. The Shannon Stefanowicz Memorial Scholarship is given to a senior who plans to attend college and major in either Business or the Medical field. The student must be of good character, respectful and willing to lend a helping hand. The scholarship winner is: KARA GRANT
16. The Marion P. Elliot Memorial Scholarship is presented to a senior student who has received the highest grade on the New York State English Regents. Marion was a long time Board of Education member here at Salmon River Central School, a certified English teacher and grammarian. She substituted for many years in the area schools. The seniors, who have achieved this award in the past, share Mrs. Elliot’s love of the English language. Congratulations to: ALLISON BOOTS and SEAN GODARD
17. The Akwesasne International POW-WOW Scholarship in the amount of $1,000 is given to a graduating Akwesasne senior in good academic standing, who exemplifies community service, plans to attend a two or four year college and has contributed to the Akwesasne International POW WOW in some manner over the years. Congratulations to ZOE THOMPSON
18. The criteria for selecting the recipient for the annual Clint Thomas Memorial Scholarship is based on athletics, academics, community involvement and the pursuit of a post secondary education. The $1,000 scholarship this year goes to: LESLEE LORAN
