A Voice from the Eastern Door
The best First Nations players from across Canada were brought together to participate in the 11th annual National Aboriginal Hockey Championships held in Saskatoon Saskatchewan May 7-12, 2012.
This prestigious hockey tournament brought Saskatchewan and Easter Door and the North together in the final game to play for gold for the second year in a row! EDN won the gold cup with a score of 3-2.
Local Akwesasronon players that participated include Shaydi Oakes and Skylar King.
Cory Garrow also participated in the prestigious tournament for the Eastern Door and the North boys team falling to Manitoba in the Bronze medal game.
The tournament was comprised of 8 boys teams and 8 girls teams and they included British Columbia, Alberta, Manitoba, North West Territories, Atlantic, Saskatchewan, Ontario, and the Eastern Door and the North.
