Tuesday evening at Salmon River elementary school, the fourth and fifth grade band and chorus held their annual band and chorus spring concert.
The band was led by Mr. Justin Hahn, with the notable exception of guest student conductor Chelsie Chamberlain leading “This Old Man”.
Of particular note was the recognition of 6 students for their performance at NYSSMA, in which they practiced a piece for months and had to perform in front of strangers, a tough feat for young musicians, indeed!
Following the band’s performance, the 4th and 5th grade chorus came out and lined up to perform. Mrs. Emily Robideau directed the chorus.
The band performed their warm up piece, “Good Golly, Prunhilda”, followed by “American Game Song Medley” with piano accompaniment by Emily Hutchison. “The Tailor and the Mouse” and the “Frim Fram Sauce”, also with piano, rounded out the evening. The children gave a wonderful performance.
Voting to decide on the Budget, busses and 2 board seats was also going on during the event, and people were encouraged to vote during intermission.
On Tuesday, Akwesasne Mohawk School held its Pre-K and Kindergarten concert, and Wednesday they held the first and second grade spring concert. Mr. Justin Hahn led these concerts, as well.
