A Voice from the Eastern Door
After a week of rain soaked fields and cold temperatures, the sun came out for the Massena boy’s lacrosse seniors as they and their parents were celebrated. Three seniors played their last NAC regular season game in front of their home based fans. Ryan Chauvin, Luke Bender and Zach Hopps will be heading off to college in the fall and are wished all the best.
The Ogdensburg Blue Devils were in town to play ball. The Raiders came out fast and furious and scored four goals in the first quarter and at half time led 6-0. Even with a second half of persistent penalties the Raiders came away with an 11-2 victory over OFA.
Zach Hopps sparked the Raider offense with three goals and three assists while Grayson Phillips fired in two goals and three assists. Jordy Mitchell and Rhodes Tarbell each added a goal and two assists. Noah Ransom, Josh Blair, Brendan Broderick and Tyler Simms each contributed one goal.
For OFA Jake Garrison scored both goals while Joey Kiah and Jordan McCormick each added solo assists. Goalie Spencer Lawrence made 12 saves.
Kyle Cook Stopped 11 shots and Dylan Stone had one save in the combined effort for Massena.
Massena improves its record 9-5 overall and 8-5 in the NAC.
