Although the temperatures were frigid last week, the Lady Raiders were heating things up on the lacrosse field with wins over OFA and Heuvelton.
On Wednesday Massena played host to the OFA Blue Devils at the Mike Nicholas Field. The Lady Raiders blasted their way to a 9-2 halftime lead and kept the momentum going in the second half to claim a 14-4 win.
Shaydi Oakes (1 assist) and Erin Francis stoked the fire with four goals each. Dominique Valancius found the back of the net three times. Megan Poupore (1 assist) and Stefanie Premo added one goal apiece. Carlie Leary recorded two helpers while Mia Jermano and Jaclyn Spinner provided single assists.
For Ogdensburg Molly Morrow provided two goals while Kaitlin Sheppard and Mackenzie Comeau posted solo goals. Nikki Holmes contributed a solo helper.
Alisha Jacobs turned aside nine shots and turned over the net to Felicity Love who stopped one shot for the winning effort. Erica Chase stopped 10 shots for OFA.
The Lady Raiders improve their record 4-1 overall.
On Friday night Massena and Heuvelton braved the cold weather and played under the lights at Mike Nicolas Field. The Lady Raiders keep warm by racing out to a 9-2 halftime lead and ending with a 20-9 NAC victory.
Erin Francis was hot with six goals and six assists. Alisha Jacobs struck for four goals and three assists while Shaydi Oakes netted three goals and one assist. Stefanie Premo (2 assists) and Shannon Casey generated two goals each. Megan Poupore, Megan Hans and Alanna Pyke contributed singletons while Bethany Rogers added a solo helper.
Aliza Armstrong (1 assist) and Emilie Ross led the Bulldogs with three goals each. Ashlyn Piercey, Jackie Sovie and Shastin Crobar added a goal apiece.
Felicity Love recorded 10 saves between the pipes for Massena for the win. Megan Hamilton stopped 10 shots for Heuvelton (1-6, 1-4).
Massena improves its record 5-0 in the league and 5-1 overall.
