Student Submission

The following is an outline of a cross curriculum unit done in my 6th grade classroom here at Salmon River School District. The writing piece is a letter to the editor.

Dear Editor:

I am writing to tell you what going on in the Florida Keys. There is a man Named Dusty Muleman who is dumping raw sewage into a bay in the keys. He could kill sea life that are important to their habitat. People could get sick from swimming at the beach. Animals that drink from the water could get sick and die. Noah’s father is in jail for sinking the corral Queen Dusty Muleman’s boat. He sunk the corral queen because he wanted Dusty to get shut down for dumping sewage in the Bay.

Noah’s father Scar doesn’t want any fish or turtles to die from the sewage. Scar wants dusty to get caught while he’s emptying the holding tanks. Some of the sea life is near extinction. The fish would eat the sewage and people could catch the fish and eat them and get very sick.

The turtle’s could go extinct from eating the sewage and. It could harm their babies. There are very few of the Red Bone Fish and if it went extinct people wouldn’t be able to catch them anymore.

Please help me help the sea life at thunder bay!
