The Hogansburg-Akwesasne Volunteer Fire Department’s annual banquet was held last Saturday night. Jason McDonald was MC of the event. Several past fire chiefs and fire chiefs from neighboring Franklin county towns were in attendance. SRMT Chief Ron Lafrance said a few words, thanking the fire fighters for their service and announcing that the loan will be backed for a brand new ladder truck. MCA Chief Billy Sunday also thanked the firefighters and spoke of purchasing an Engine 9 for Cornwall. A video featuring various pictures from events in 2011-2012 was shown and several awards were handed out.

An Appreciation Award for Years of Service was presented to Frank Lacerenza. He was an active member from 1964-2011 and of those 47 years, he was fire chief for 23 ½. Congratulations to all those recognized and a special thank you to all firefighters.
