Swamps Performance is changing the way they do business with their female clientele. “It’s about honesty, I know how women are treated elsewhere and I see no reason for it,” said Casey Swamp. “I was talking with another business owner when they told me about the askpatty.com website and everything just took off from there.”
Swamps Performance recently gained certification from the askpatty.com website. Their staff is now better prepared to work with their female patrons to make them feel comfortable and confident about their automotive decisions.
“In many cases women are pressured into work by saying that the repair is essential and most of the time it isn’t,” said Swamp. They have implemented a 27-point inspection sheet that is mandatory for all repairs whether it be an oil change or wheel alignment. “At the end if the inspection sheet indicates that repairs are needed we provide the customer with a prioritized list and timelines of how urgent the repair really is.”
Swamps Performance is also holding free Women’s Automotive Maintenance Clinics there at the shop. The first was held this past Wednesday with another to be held around the first week of May. “It is exciting where things are heading. I didn’t expect to get such a great turnout for these workshops but our first one filled quickly and the next is already halfway to capacity,” said Swamp.
In addition to the Women’s Automotive Maintenance Clinic there is also talk about developing other workshops for young drivers. “I’ve even considered developing one for Girl Scouts because I know that there is a Car Care Badge that they can get,” said Swamp. “I just need to know that the interest and demand is there, for me it is not just about gaining more business but about making sure that people know how to care for their vehicles.”
Swamps Performance has also implemented other changes since Casey Swamp took over principle ownership and management of the business last year. They now implement a follow-up call to make sure that two weeks later clients vehicles are still running smoothly. They also have an electronic tracking system that allows them to send reminder emails that a client’s vehicle is due for routine maintenance like an oil change. “We are working hard to improve our customer care and satisfaction. If our customer has registered an email account with us we send them special offers on services,” said Swamp.
“Being an independent business we can really set our own goals, which is something that national chains do not have the flexibility to do,” said Swamp. With the askpatty.com website they stay up-to-date on the trends in the industry and how they can better relate to the female clientele. They have recently added state of the art equipment and can offer 4-wheel computerized alignments.
“The next step onsite is to do some renovations to make the atmosphere more inviting to the public. We have a courtesy shuttle available for our patrons and are looking forward to improving our service to Akwesasne,” said Swamp. Swamps Performance will be offering free vehicle check-ups this Saturday from 11:00am-1:00pm.
