Important Policy Notice for Homeownership Program Participants

The Akwesasne Housing Authority (AHA) recently sent out mailers announcing a new MUTUAL-HELP/HOMEOWNERSHIP SUBLEASE POLICY for homebuyers.  The purpose of this policy is to inform homebuyers participating in the AHA Mutual-help Homeownership Program of established guidelines for subleasing the units in which they currently reside. This policy addresses:

· The conditions or circumstances under which a homebuyer may sublease their Mutual-help home

· The process in which homebuyer would submit a request

· If approved, the agreement conditions

· The sub-lessee eligibility requirements

· Process to occur if denied a sublet request and/or a sublet extension
