Overall record for Salmon River Girls Varsity Basketball team is 17-3
The Salmon River Girls Varsity Basketball team captured the Northern League Championship with an undefeated record of 8-0. The Shamrocks drew a first round bye in the Section X playoffs because they were the #1 Seed. They played #4 Seed, Gouverneur at the Salmon River gymnasium on February 16, 2012 and defeated the Wildcats with a score of 82-50. This victory placed the Shamrocks in the championship game versus #2 Seed, Canton Central School. The Shamrocks met the Golden Bears at Maxcy Hall at SUNY Potsdam on Friday, February 24, 2012. The Shamrocks and Golden Bears exchanged lead changes throughout the game and it came right down to the final minutes. The Shamrocks’ experience and composure is what helped them rise above and win the Class B title for the second consecutive year. The Shamrocks defeated the Golden Bears with a score of 58-47.
Sophomore Abby Kelly led all scorers with 27 points, Junior Rylie Mainville had 11 points and 12 rebounds, Senior Karyss Terrance had 10 points and 11 rebounds, Senior Anna Kelly dished out 9 assists, and Sophomores Taylor Francis and Kwiio King both chipped in 5 points each in the winning effort.
