A Voice from the Eastern Door

Potsdam Defense Shuts Down Raiders

The last time these two teams met it was a tight match with Potsdam prevailing 40-37. A month later on Massena’s home court the rematch was still pretty tight with Potsdam prevailing defensively once again, 38-33. The win puts Potsdam in a tie for the NAC Central Division Standings. If they win over Ogdensburg later in the week they will claim the Championship title.

Six Red Raider seniors were honored before the game. “Coach Miller and the boy’s basketball staff would like to honor the six seniors who will be playing in the last home basketball game of their career tonight. These six students have spent countless hours in the gymnasium throughout their high school careers. Their work ethic, dedication and commitment to the Massena Boys Basketball program have helped greatly to continue the fine tradition of excellence in Massena High athletics. It has been an honor to work with these fine athletes and they will be sorely missed by all who have watched them perform and succeed over the years. You will always be members of the MCHS Basketball family. We wish you the very best of luck in all your future endeavors”.

Xavier Viskovich was the high scorer for the Raiders with eight points while Zach Hopps netted six points and four assists. Troy Myers added five points and eight rebounds. Zach Rusaw grabbed a game high 14 rebounds and four points.

For OFA, Josh Adams tallied nine points and nine rebounds. Owen Mitchell followed with seven points and seven rebounds. Lee Buchanon fired through two three pointers and Konner Bigwarfe netted six points.
