On January 31, 2012, the Akwesasne Mohawk Police patrol officers were monitoring traffic at the intersection of Island Road and International Road when a vehicle heading South bound failed to stop at the stop sign and proceeded West bound on Island Road. The Officers activated the emergency lights attempting to stop the vehicle. The operator of the vehicle accelerated to flee from police and cut off another vehicle when turning onto Tewesateni Road. Police activated the emergency lights and sirens. The operator of the fleeing vehicle refused to stop for police then turned onto a private road where the operator lost control and went off the roadway. When police arrived officers attempted to remove the driver from the vehicle, but were unable as the vehicle became mobile again. The operator of the vehicle was identified and will be charged in relation to this incident for Flight from Police, Dangerous Operation, Operate While Disqualified.
On February 1, 2012, the Akwesasne Mohawk Police responded to a residence in Tsi Snaihne on a complaint of harassment. While police were en route the caller called back stating that the victim was assaulted. The victim was on the phone with police dispatch when she was attacked from behind and police have identified the accused who is facing a charge of assault to appear in Valleyfield Court at a later date.
On February 2, 2012, Gregory David of Kawehnoke turned himself into the Cornwall Police on Akwesasne Mohawk Police outstanding warrant stemming from an incident back in February 3, 2011. Warrant was executed on Mr. David and he was conveyed to the Ontario Provincial Court to answer to the charge of Possession over $5000.00.
On February 2, 2012, a Warrant was executed at the Ontario Provincial Court House on Ryan Buckshot of Kawehnoke, Ontario. Warrant was issued for Mr. Buckshot for fail to comply with conditions of his release.
On February 5, 2012, the Akwesasne Mohawk Police were stationary at the currency parking lot on Akwesasne Street monitoring traffic when police observed a vehicle traveling on Akwesasne street being operated by an unlicensed driver. Police followed the vehicle to a residence, the operator of the vehicle exited and attempted to enter a residence to evade police. The male operator of the vehicle identified himself and while police attempted to interact with the accused an altercation ensued resulting in additional charges of Assault Police, Obstruct Police, Drive Motor Vehicle-no license. The accused from Kanatakon, Quebec will appear in Valleyfield Provincial Court at a later date to answer to the charges.

LANDON SKY, 29, of Nedrow, New York, was sentenced Feb. by Senior United States District Judge Frederick J. Scullin to a term of one year and one day imprisonment for his plea of guilty to conspiring to possess with intent to distribute and distribute between 10 and 20 kilograms of marijuana between August and December 2008. SKY played a role as a mid-level distributor in a marijuana conspiracy in which a total of well over 100 kilograms of marijuana was brought from the Akwesasne Mohawk Indian Reservation (AMIR), near the U.S./Canadian border, to the Onondaga Indian Reservation in Nedrow, New York. In his role as a co-conspirator, SKY received multi-pound amounts of marijuana, delivered to him by co-conspirators from the Akwesasne Mohawk Indian Reservation to other co-conspirators on the Onondaga Reservation, which marijuana SKY thereafter re-sold, in smaller quantities, to other co-conspirators and to various Syracuse area customers.
After SKY finishes serving his sentence of incarceration, he will thereafter be placed on supervised release for a period of 3 years. SKY was also ordered to pay a special assessment of $100. The SKY case was investigated by the Syracuse Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) and the Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office. The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Carl G. Eurenius.
