Randall T. Jacobs

AKWESASNE - Mr. Randall T. “Man” Jacobs, age 59, of 78 Indian Village Road, Racquette Point, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday evening, December 21, 2011 in the emergency room at Massena Memorial Hospital.

Man was born October 31, 1952 in Malone, the son of the late Louis Gilbert and Nora Charlotte Mitchell Jacobs.  He attended St. Regis Mohawk Schools and graduated from Salmon River Central School.   On May 16, 1981, he married Rosalie A. Laughing at his family homestead in Akwesasne with Justice George Bero, officiating. 

Man was a certified welder working as an ironworker with Local #440, until becoming disabled due to health reasons.  He loved to hang out with the crew at Jacobs Excavating and AK Garage.  Man was an avid sports enthusiast and loved to watch his children, and his grandchildren, play their sports.  He was an athletic trainer for over 30 years with many local sporting teams, including the Warriors, Outlaws, Jr. B. Lightning, Jr. A. Indians and also was a trainer for his children and grandchildren’s sports.  He loved watching wrestling on television, fishing, gardening, cooking, and traveling to NLL games with his wife and grandson Ty. Man was also an avid race car sportsman. For many years, Man’s Halloween birthday tradition was providing a hayride for all the neighborhood children and children at heart. He drove around the neighborhood and ending the night with his favorite birthday dinner, KFC.  Man saw each of grandchildren uniquely different and gave each of them a nickname. He recently took up hunting and got his first deer.

Man is survived by his wife, Rosalie; his three children, Tisha and Kristian Thompson of Racquette Point; Tara and Brandon Tarbell of Akwesasne; Alan Jacobs of Racquette Point, daughter-in-law Lindsay, his chosen children Teneya Mitchell, and Brandon Cook.  He is also survived by his twelve grandchildren, Ty, Alisha, Babes, Rhoades, Mya, Alan Jr., Thomas, Bryce, Braylin, Dallan, Ella, and Jemma; his chosen grandchildren Justine, Denelle, Kahiio, Jayda of Akwesasne, and Bradley McGowan of Kahnawake, QC; his best friend, Morris Fasset; and his goddaughters, Christine Sunday and Mandy Francis, both of Akwesasne.

Man also leaves behind his stepfather, Peter Sunday of Akwesasne; 8 siblings, Rocky and Julia Jacobs of Akwesasne; Melanie and Mike Conners of Akwesasne; Dave and Yolanda Jacobs of Akwesasne; Harley and Laura Jacobs of Racquette Point; Scott and Doreen Jacobs of Fort Covington; Sheila and Larry King of Akwesasne; Tina Sunday of Akwesasne; Pete and Nancy Sunday of St. Andrews, Ontario; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Man was waked at his home until a funeral service on Saturday, December 24, 2011.
