Gloria M Cooke

Gloria M. Cooke, age 68, of Ft. Covington, passed away Tuesday, November 22, 2011 at the Highland Nursing Home in Massena where she had resided since 2005.

Born in Ft. Covington on June 12.1943, she was the daughter of the late Eugene and Marjorie Collett Collette. Gloria graduated from Salmon River Central School in 1961 and from the LPN Nursing School at North Country Community College in 1974. Many years ago she had worked at Tru-Stitch in Bombay and later as an LPN at the Alice Hyde Hospital. She retired in 1986 when she was disabled in an automobile accident.

She was married to Joseph B. Cooke on July 15, 1961 in St. Mary’s Church in Ft. Covington.

She was a former communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Ft. Covington and was a member of the Massena Amvets Auxiliary, the Ft. Covington American Legion Auxiliary and a former member of the UFCW Union at Shields Slipper Factory in Bombay.

Survivors include four sons and daughters-in-law, Chris and Chylie Cooke of Moira, Kevin and Joelle Cooke of Orrington, ME, Cory and Jayne Cooke of Ft. Covington, and Kelly and Elizabeth Cooke of Newton, NJ; a daughter and son-in-law, Candy and Carl Rowe of Norwood. NY; a step brother, David Stiles, and a step sister, Judy Stiles Malone both of Texas; ten grandchildren; three great grandchildren; her former husband, Joseph Cooke of Hogansburg; and by several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Calling hours will be Friday from 11 a.m. until 1:45 p.m. in the Cappiello-McKenzie and Cosgrove Funeral Home in Ft. Covington. A Funeral Service will be held Friday at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Martin Cline, pastor presiding. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Ft. Covington Fire and Rescue Squad, the Ft. Covington American Legion or to the SPCA.

Arrangements are through the Cappiello-McKenzie and Cosgrove Funeral Home of Ft. Covington.
