A Unique Event

Two babies (boys) born about one month apart were baptized at the St. Regis Catholic Church in October 2011. This celebration was not your typical event. We will focus just on Baby Eric Bentley Oakes, five months old now.  Eric Bentley’s Rakeni is a first time dad Dustin Oakes, and Eric’s Istha is a first time mom, Jordan Cook (both missing from photo). The mothers of this couple are first time Sohtha’s (grandmothers).  Dustin’s Istha (mom) is Carrie Jacobs and Jordan’s Istha (mom) is Jaime Jacobs – no relation.

A little more interesting as new facts unfold: Carrie’s mother is Darlene Jacobs, who is also Dustin’s grandmother, is a first time great-grandmother; and Jaime’s mother is Geraldine Jacobs, who is Jordan’s grandmother, is a first time great-grandmother. Wow is this ever exhausting!

Adding more intrigue into the mix, Dustin’s Istha Carrie had a baby boy about one month earlier before Dustin’s son Eric was born. That makes Dustin’s baby brother Daniel Mitchell an uncle to his son Eric Bentley…ummm? This is not the exact end of this unique event, there is just one more to add.

These two special babies just happen to be the only ones baptized by Fr. Jerome Pastores the new Pastor, that warm eventful Sunday morning for Uncle Daniel Joseph Mitchell and his little nephew Eric Bentley Oakes. Phew! What are the odds of this occurring for this unique event!
