Haunted Happenings in Akwesasne- Part IV

This week is the final part of our investigation with Mary Faye Roundpoint and family from Tsi Snaihne, which was an interesting night for all concerned. Before we get to the second half of the report, let’s get to our paranormal lesson this week. We will be focusing on what to do when you need to call in a paranormal team.

First we suggest to our clients to keep a journal of everything that happens. Details to keep note of are what time of day things happen, who was there to witness it, what was the weather like that day, time of year. Keep records of everything that happens, even your animal’s reactions if there are any in the home. Anything you can recall is helpful to us to help you, and continue writing in the journal even after you contact us, to keep it up to date.

The next step is to contact our office by phone at 315-804-8490 or by email at [email protected] to reach our case manager.  Our case manager will call you and ask you some questions about what is happening in the home or business, land and area; and will work with the team to schedule and find the best date and time for everyone. After a date is set you will be sent a list of things to do and not do when we get there, such as:

In order to have an uninterrupted investigation, we ask no persons others than the client(s) be present at the location of the investigation. This will eliminate the possibility of unnecessary noise from other people that can corrupt the audio, not giving us the best investigation possible for the client.

The Client(s) to be present at the home should be no more then two, unless prior arrangements are made.

We ask that arrangements be made for pets and that no children under the age of 18 be present at the time of the investigation. This is for reason of sound corruption with the pets and the safety of the children.

No smoking in the home before we arrive until after we have finished the investigation.

We will ask that all air conditioners, heaters, ceiling fans, televisions, radios, telephones, cell phones, and any other noise producing apparatus be turned off during the investigation. We do this to make sure we give you the best quality investigation possible. If our audio is contaminated by too many noises, like other people’s voices and movements, we can’t tell normal from paranormal and have to throw a lot of what could be evidence out. We never whisper during an investigation, we speak in normal tones, but we can’t control others who do in another room. Our equipment picks up a lot of things you would never normally notice like people talking outside or a dog outside barking can be heard inside. These sounds being picked up on our recorders make it hard to hear an EVP or to discern if it is an EVP or just people talking from the outside.

We will do an investigation at whatever time the actions in your home are happening. There is no sense in doing an evening investigation if things are only happening in the day. If you tell us things are happening at 9:00am on every Thursday then we want to be there at 9:00am on Thursday not 9:00pm on Saturday.

Investigations take anywhere from 4 to 8-hours to collect evidence depending on the activity in the home or building. The time varies so much per investigation because each one is different. Variables like some homes being bigger or cases with more intense activities then others will sometimes take more than one visit to get all the evidence needed.

On average the time it takes us to thoroughly review all of our evidence depends on the case and how long we are there, but normally a month is spent reviewing everything. To understand how much time is involved with a case take each hour we are there investigating, then times that by each investigator there, take into consideration that we have at least one to two audio recorders running per investigator, and normally at least 4 to 5 investigators on the case. On average we collect 25 to 30 hours of audio to listen to, then 4 IR video cameras where we watch each frame of each hour of all 4 cameras setup, and digital cameras for each investigator to review for a 4-hour investigation. If we do research on the land itself then it gets into a lot more hours, as it has in many cases but we love doing this kind of work!

The lastly note from us is to please be careful who you invite into your home, whether you call Paranormal Investigation Saint Lawrence Seaway or another team in. All paranormal teams worth their salt are completely volunteer and do not charge for services. If someone does ask you for a payment for services, call another team! Donations are not asked for or required, but if they are offered, our team uses them for equipment and travel expenses. Our payment is seeing people happy on both sides. Doing this research in this field is important to us, and helping people is foremost. That is what it is all about for our team PISToLS.

Now, onto Mary Faye Roundpoint Investigation 10/14/2011 Part 2:

PISToLS thanks Mary Faye Roundpoint for trusting us to help her family and her by inviting us into their lovely home to do an investigation.

One thing we found interesting is that the things that normally have a high Electromagnet Field (EMF) reading, like the microwave, had a flat line reading of 0.00. At first I was thinking maybe something was amiss with the Mel meter that reads the EMF, until we checked near a digital alarm clock and it shot up to 150.00 and shut down the meter. That is a normal reading for an alarm clock, but still very strange how many things that should have been showing high EMF besides the alarm clock were not showing anything but flat line on the Mel Meter; it is as though the energy is already being used by something or someone else in the home.

As we walked around doing our readings I often times leave on the recorder just to see what we can get as we walk around doing readings, and it also backs up my written records too. Doing this paid off this time with a couple EVP. It seems there was a spirit present who was interested in what we were doing as we went from room to room doing the readings. In fact they were so interested that they decided to help out, or should I say HE decided to help.

While I was using the Mel Meter to measure EMF, Investigator Amie Merrill was using the laser thermometer to take surface temperatures. The laser thermometer has a distinctive “beep beep beep” sound as you press the trigger. Just Amie and I, two females, were in the room with no males anywhere near us. As I asked Amie, “What did you get, girl…?” there was a male voice that took a deep breath then said, “72.” You then heard the “beep beep beep” of the laser thermometer and the voice finished with “.6”

The male voice started to tell me the temperature BEFORE Amie took the reading with the laser thermometer! That was an intelligent spirit, and helpful too. It was a spirit who was interested in our investigation of him.

In the next room we again had an EVP, but it was a different type of EVP. The recording made no sense to us; it was of two males having a conversation like we are not even there. This EVP was also caught as we were doing readings with the laser thermometer, which can be heard in between. We were not doing an EVP session at this time, and were only doing readings and unfortunately the laser broke up the whole EVP.

But this is what we picked up, “You find any place for it?”, then the ‘beep beep beep’ of the laser. There was something else being said that we can’t make out, then we heard, “Yeah” in a very plain voice. It is two different male voices talking about something that we don’t know. This might be a residual haunting – energy left imprinted there from something that happened long ago that just replays over and over again. How long ago and what it was? We do not have any idea at this point, but we do not think it is anything harmful and that it is just there.

Tom Questel our team leader and Claire our psychic medium had been upstairs. They came down to meet up with Amie and I and then Claire and I continued doing the walk through to set plans for camera positions.

Claire came up to me separately and said that there was a lot going on in the house. She just had something blow threw her downstairs in the basement, but whatever it is, is nothing bad. Claire discussed how she felt that someone in the home wants to be known. While Claire walked toward the dining room area I felt like I was being called into the living room area on the first floor and I called to Claire and asked her about it.

Claire told me that she saw people sitting in the chairs around the room and I asked her who was sitting in the corner? Claire responded that it was a man who wanted the attention and to be known; he had been the one following Claire around the home. I felt him but do not see him as Claire did, but he wanted attention right then. We both feel he was around his late 20’s, so 27-30 years of age. We joked then that it was Claire’s blonde curly hair he was interested in and wanted to touch – she is the only one with curls in the group.

We continued from there to the upstairs rooms. In the back bedroom I had cold chills and a cold draft on the side of my head, yet the temperature read 75.1 degrees. In another room on the second floor we had a strange sound followed by an EVP voice saying a friendly “hello” as we entered the room.

The next room we chose to put a camera IR in was a good choice of rooms and positioning. This is the room Claire, Kyrie and I sat in to start our EVP sessions, and what a good session it was. Tom and Amie went to the opposite side of the home and down to the basement two floors below us so there would be no crossover sound from us.

Tom started with his audio recorder batteries on 2/3 full and they died on him within 25 minutes into the investigation. Unfortunately in that time frame that the batteries died, there were sounds that came from an area where wooden chairs were stacked and no one was near the chairs to make the noises. Tom and Amie used their flashlights to try to communicate.

“Is there a family member present?” asked Tom and the flashlight turned on in an affirmative answer. “Are you sitting in the chair next to me?” asked Amie with no reaction. “Do you mind us being here? Do you want us to leave?” – the light turned on. “Are you Male?” – the light turned on. “Are you confused?” – no reaction. “Are you confused?” – no reaction. “Are you a young male?” – no reaction. “Are you an Elder?” – the light turned on. “Are you a protective spirit?” – the light turned on.

In the meantime upstairs on the second floor Claire, Kyrie and I were in the bedroom we decided to set up one of the IR cameras in.

Kyrie was holding the K2 meter that reads EMF and it spiked to 20-mill-guss for no reason, as she was holding it. Interestingly enough as I went near Kyrie, she and I both got zapped a couple times from an electric charge. There was some type of electromagnetic field going on somewhere around Kyrie in the air.

Claire had a click on flashlight with her and I had our normal twist maglight flashlight we use to try to communicate, along with our K2 meter and our Mel meter. But it was the click flashlight of Claire’s that the spirit took a real liking to in that room. Her flashlight started to flicker and turned off then back on again on its own. As Claire talked to the spirit she set it down and the flashlight clicked on, then flashes and goes out again. This flashlight takes a lot of pressure to turn on by pushing the click button on the end.

In the meantime I had turned on the night vision camera I have and it ran for about two minutes before the batteries drained. Claire’s flashlight was on the little bed in front of her and we heard an audible “click” of the flashlight turning on. A few minutes later Claire heard footsteps in the hallway outside the door, but it was not heard on the audio.

Claire said, “Someone turned off my camera,” then she saw a red light and her camera batteries died too. Several times as I sat on the bed I felt like someone moved behind me and I had a cool feeling on my right side.

“Tell us why you throw things?” I asked and then Claire starts to giggle.

“I’m pretty sure I just heard the answer, they said, ‘Cause it is Fun!’” said Claire. We all get a giggle now out of that one; once again the personality comes through of the spirit.

A few minutes after that we heard some very soft whispering on the audio recorder, but it was too low and could not be made out.

Claire asked if they (the spirits) are still interested in communicating using the flashlight. I say to her put the flashlight down on the bed so if it goes on it is better out of your hands going on for evidence. As soon as she put the flashlight down on the bed, it clicked on and then off. I was so excited and I kept saying that it was a click flashlight! A push click flashlight!

There is a “Snap” sound heard on the audio and something is being said behind our voices, as we discuss getting ready to leave the room. Again it was said too lightly and we cannot make it out. The Mel Meter did a jump to 96.0 from 0.0 for no reason as it sat on the bed. Claire heard again what she thought were footsteps in the hall, but nothing was picked up on the audio. As we said our goodbyes and prepared to move to another room there was an EVP in a male voice whisper saying, “Stay here.”

From there we continued to the basement, as it is Amie and Tom’s turn to go to the upstairs floors. They moved to the children’s playroom and while they were there the K2 meter did a max spike to 20-mill-guss for no reason, in an area that had flat EMF when we did the readings earlier in the evening when we first arrived. As Tom was going through his audio, just before this spike there is an EVP of a female voice that says, “There ain’t enough.” We have no idea what this was in response to or if it was in response to anything at all. It was said as they were setting up their equipment to do an EVP session in the room. Around this time in the same room Amie felt something like a spider web touch her forehead and there were no spider webs in the room.

Down the hall Tom and Amie go to another bedroom and captured another EVP of a female voice saying, “Tom had a deep…” and the last part cannot be made out as it faded off. Was she taking about Tom the team leader and His deep voice?

Clarie, Kyrie and I took our turn in the basement area, we went to the end of the bar area where the pool table was and set up for an EVP session.

I turned over the Mel meter to set it up on the pool table and it started beeping like I was hitting the buttons even though I wasn’t. I turned it back over to set it down on the pool table and it picked up an EMF of 1.1 and stayed there for a few minutes before it went back to 0.0 again.

Claire saw a red flash of light in the corner of the room and right then the night vision camera switched from night vision video to night vision standard camera all on it’s own. It seemed our equipment was being played with again, nothing new for this team, especially in an active area or home.

As Claire is taking a still photo with the digital camera she caught a moving energy orb in the corner near a couch. We take three pictures in a row – the orb is not there in the first picture, there in the second and not in the third.

The one EVP we did get in the basement area was when Kyrie asked in Mohawk, “What is your name?” To my delight there is a reply in what sounds like in a whispered female voice that was so light I could only make out the pattern of the two words that are there.

There is something there and I am still working on cleaning up enough to be understood.

Claire and Tom teamed up next and went to a second floor bedroom to conduct an EVP session one of the last two to be done. They asked if there were 5 people there and the light came on. They also asked if there where any messages for anyone there and the light reacted by turning on again. As they started to leave the flashlight came on one more time, was it saying like in the other room ‘please stay’? No EVP was captured in this bedroom.

Amie, Kyrie and I went to the last room down on the first floor, the large living room and we setup and started the EVP session. We did not really get any reaction on the flashlight, or K2 meter in this room. We only caught a couple of EVPs. One is a female voice just as a dog is barking in the background outside, and the voice said something sounding like “Oh Ogden,” in a whisper. Later on in a soft female voice we also caught “Oooh hey.”

We definitely felt many spirits in this room and it felt more like they were observing us. We thanked them for letting us speak with them that night, and told them that we hoped they have told us what they needed us to tell the family. That we wanted most of all to help the family feel comfortable in their own home and to help them communicate with the family what it is they want and why they are there.

Next we all met in the dining room area, there were around 12 to 15 members of Mary Faye’s family in addition to our team in the room. We are going to do one last session with the family present. There is a momentary spike on our K2 meter as we were getting ready to start.

Our Psychic Medium Claire tells the family about the man who had been following her around, that he was between 27 -33 years of age who passed around 1990 in a vehicle accident. A death anniversary is either coming or has past. The family discussed this and said that it was a cousin and that there is another death anniversary coming up soon.

As we conducted the EVP session Mary Faye said that if it is family that is around and if they want to be with the family, they should come to the gatherings that they have. The family holds a lot of them and there was one coming up that weekend, but they should not scare them. The invitation was to come be with the family at the gatherings.

Claire has told the family that the spirits don’t want to be forgotten, they want to be remembered. We tried to calm the family’s fears and told them that anything anyone had experienced that night was not of a “bad or evil” nature. We will let them know as soon as possible if we find anything to worry about with what we find as we go though our evidence.

Here is Claire’s report on this session:

During this session several family members of Mary Faye and herself asked questions regarding the activity they were experiencing throughout the house. Many of their concerns were in regards to evil activities, but it was apparent to me that it was only the family and friends of those present in the house.

At the end I was able to ask a few questions regarding the young male I kept seeing around the house. His existence and identity was indeed confirmed by his mother who is another family member of Mary Faye’s.

Claire’s conclusion:

There is certain activity present within the Roundpoint home. Many deceased family members are present and interested in being around their current living family members.

It was hard to tell if there was truly any EVP in this group session because there were so many people in the room. Tom thought he had one but when I listened closely on my audio program it seemed to be a whisper or very low talk from someone in the room.

Our final conclusion on this case is that it is a intelligent haunting and possibly in at least one spot in the home is a residual energy haunting. The intelligent haunt is family members who wish to be remembered and be near their loved ones. With anniversaries of deaths being close the loved ones were trying to make sure we knew that through Claire. The rest of the time we believe again that it is family being near family, and that they are not meaning to scare them.

I feel once we are able to go back and Claire can read for the family it will help them open the communication and will give them understanding and much needed peace to both sides.

As to the possible residual haunting, I would say we would need to go back another night and study it again and see what we get. If we get the same words over again in the same spot at the same time then it would prove what it is. This would not harm anyone and just be energy repeating over and over impressed into the place and does not care who is there or what is there.

I spoke with Mary Faye recently and she told me that at a recent gathering of her family at one large family dinner there were doors that they never close but the doors kept closing on their own. At another gathering to celebrate her 25th wedding anniversary someone witnessed a piece of cake that had been cut and left on the cake area fly off and hit the floor – not fall but fly! Seems the relatives are letting her know they are around the gatherings.

Mary Faye also told me that the day of her brother’s death anniversary, which was the same day they where to have a special mass for him at church; she heard steps walking again upstairs in the hall above her as she tried to take a nap downstairs and no one else was there in the home. Mary Faye says she was very close to her brother. Personally, I believe it is her brother letting her know in his own way that he is still watching over her from “above”.
