WARRANT - Drew Dalton Jacobs, 22 of Akwesasne was arrested on the 29th of August, 2011 under the strength of two outstanding warrants. It is alleged that on the 10th and on the 16th of May 2011 he failed to attend court and a warrants were issued. He was located and held in custody until court the following day.

OBSTRUCTION GOVERNMENTAL ADMINISTRATION – Massena Village police charged Tina Square, 20, of 48 Mary Road, Akwesasne, with obstruction of governmental administration and several vehicle and traffic law violations following a traffic stop at 11:17 a.m. Wednesday August 24 on East Hatfield Street. She was arraigned by Acting Massena Village Justice James M. Crandall and posted $500 bail.

Square was ticketed for unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, operation of an uninspected and unregistered motor vehicle, operation of a vehicle with no insurance, operation of a vehicle with improper plates and a stop lamp violation. Police said at the time of the traffic stop Square informed officers they had no authority over her and that she was navigating earth, not operating a motor vehicle. Square then refused an order to exit her vehicle after being told it was going to be towed, police said. A patrolman reportedly had to physically remove her from her vehicle. She also allegedly tried to pull her arms away when she was being handcuffed. Police said Square was cooperative after being taken into custody, a policy she continued during her court arraignment on the charges.

CONTRABAND TOBACCO SEIZURES – The Cornwall Regional Task Force (CRTF) made and assisted in six (6) contraband tobacco seizures in the following jurisdictions between June 29 and August 23, 2011.

One (1) seizure in South Glengarry, Ontario

Two (2) seizures at the Cornwall Port of Entry

Three (3) seizures in Cornwall, Ontario

These seizures resulted in the arrest of the following eight (8) individuals who have been charged with Possession of Unstamped Tobacco, contrary to Section 32(1) of the Excise Act, 2001, and/or who are facing or have been charged under the provincial Tobacco Tax Act for possession of a tobacco product not properly stamped:

Stephane Cardinal (age 37) from Hawkesbury, Ontario

Evan White (age 22) from Hogansburg, NY

Ronald Savard (age 51) from Cornwall, Ontario

Lance Mitchell (age 31) and Herbert Mitchell (age 24), both from St. Regis, Quebec

Elwyn Jackson (age 26) and Joseph Johnson (age 45), both from Akwesasne, Quebec

One (1) young person (age 17), from Akwesasne, Ontario, who cannot be identified under the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
