Iroquois Midgets take Silver at Canadian National Championship

The 2011 Canadian National Championship Games were held August 1-6, 2011 in Whitby, Ontario.  After placing second over all in round robin play the Iroquois Midget team played British Columbia (3rd place) Friday morning (August 5) to see who would move onto the “A” Gold Championship game.

Iroquois came out winning 7-4 advancing them to the “A” Gold Championship game against Ontario.  Saturday morning these two teams battled for the Championship title, scoring one after another leaving everyone in the audience on the edge of their seats. It wasn’t until the final 3 minutes left of third period that Ontario scored two unanswered goals, effectively taking the lead and then scored on an open net.

The Iroquois Midgets took the Silver falling to Ontario 8-5.

Monday August 2nd:

Game 1-Iroquois 32 – Newfoundland 0

Game 2-Iroquois 7 – British Columbia 3

Tuesday August 3rd:

Game 3-Iroquois 11 – New Brunswick 1

Game 4-Iroquois 4 – Ontario 8

Wednesday August 4th:  

Game 5-Iroquois 12 – Nova Scotia 4

Game 6-Iroquois 21 – Manitoba 1

Thursday August 5th:

Game 7-Iroquois 12 – Quebec 2

Game 8-Iroquois 11 – Alberta 7

Friday August 6th:

Game 9-Iroquois 7 – British Columbia 4

 

The team thanks everyone who has helped in any way to get these boys to the 2011 Canadian National Lacrosse Tournament in Whitby, Ontario.
