CRIMINAL POSSESSION OF CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE – Massena-based state police charged Bradley J. Giasson, 21, of Kahnawake, Que., with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance following a secondary inspection late Monday afternoon August 15 during a secondary inspection at the U.S. port of entry at Rooseveltown. Troopers alleged Giasson was in possession of an 80 milligram Oxycodone tablet. He was arraigned by Massena Town Justice Gerald P. Sharlow and released after posting $300 bail. He is scheduled to reappear Wednesday evening in Massena Town Court.

BREACH OF RECOGNIZANCE – Devon Oakes, 35 of Akwesasne Quebec was arrested on the 13th of August 2011. He was bound by a Recognizance with the pertinent conditions to abstain from the possession or consumption of any drugs or narcotics listed in Schedules of the CDSA or being found in the company of anyone known to you to use or deal in such substances and to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. It is alleged that he was observed to be in the company of someone known to use or deal in such substances. He was charged with 2 counts of Breach of Recognizance and released to appear in court on the 6th of September 2011.

EXPIRED LICENSE – Village police ticketed Michele L. White, 31, of Hogansburg, for operating a motor vehicle with an expired driver’s license at 10:42 a.m. Friday August 12.

CRIMINAL MISCHIEF – Larry Thompson, 56 of Akwesasne was charged with two counts of second-degree criminal mischief and one count each of second-degree reckless endangerment, third-degree criminal trespassing and resisting arrest, said Massena-based State Police. Thompson was arrested Thursday August 11 for allegedly using a backhoe to dig up a capped, contaminated landfill at the former General Motors plant in Massena. He was arraigned in Town of Massena Court and taken to St. Lawrence County Jail.

CELL PHONE – Massena Village police ticketed Laura J. Tarbell, 31, of Hogansburg for using a cell phone while operating a motor vehicle following a traffic stop at 6:05 p.m. Thursday August 11 on East Orvis Street.
